Parliament of Victoria Restoration Stage 13
2021- present
O'Connor & Sons Stonemasons have been working together with the Victorian State Government in the restoration of POV over 13 stages. The project scope has been made up of stone repairs and block replacements, the restoration and returning of functionality to timber doors and windows, replacement of copper roof structures and coverings, lighting and service upgrades. It has been a privilege for O’Connor & Sons Stonemasons to be appointed the principal contractor of this grand venture.

CURRENT PROJECTS
Parliament House of Victoria, East Wing Refurbishment, Stage 3
2020 to present
O’Connor & Sons Stonemasons are currently working with Harris HMC on the POV East Wing Refurbishment Project.
The scope of works on the project includes the bluestone restoration of both the north and south internal stairs and hallways, which is made up of major block replacements, indents and repointing. Cladding the exterior facade of the level 3 and 4 extension with bluestone & sandstone that is being mechanically fixed to vertical unistruts and installation of new copper roofing, downpipes and drainage for the extension.
CURRENT PROJECTS
Great Melbourne Telescope Stage 3
2023
This project was initiated in 2008 and is a joint venture between the Astronomical Society of Victoria, Museum Victoria and Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. The project will return the telescope to its original location and functionality.
O’Connor & Sons has recently been awarded Stage 3 of the Greater Melbourne Telescope Restoration, where we will be manufacturing and installing a new bluestone base in preparation for the Great Melbourne Telescope to be reinstated.
