PARLIAMENT HOUSE OF VICTORIA RESTORATION PROJECT

2006 - Current

O’Connor & Sons Stonemasons have had the privilege of working on the restoration of Parliament House of Victoria (POV) for the past 16 years. The POV building was originally constructed over 70 years from 1855 to 1929, given the building is 150 years old, the marks of time had begun to appear.

The restoration project was initiated in 2006 and involves the complete restoration of the building facade, where every block and stone has been assessed, numbered and cataloged. With each assessment a scope is created as to how each stage is handled. By working together with our team of stonemasons, carpenters, copper corkers, crane crew and labourers we have completed one stage after another. Each stage has allowed the continuous refinement of techniques and processes. After thousands of hours carefully attending to the details of restoration, the building is being restored to one that will last generations to come.
