With over 50 years of experience in stone restoration, O’Connor & Sons Stonemasons are a leader in the restoration of historic buildings and structures.

The first iteration of the company was founded by Bill O’Connor as “W.P O’Connor Stone Contractors”, following his return from World War II. As the business continued to grow, Bill’s son Timothy developed a love for stonemasonry and heritage conservation. Tim followed in his father’s footsteps and completed a stonemasonry apprenticeship at the Former Department of Public Works, working alongside Neil Skinner.

In 1987 as Bill approached retirement, Tim returned to Melbourne to start working for the family business and rebranded it to O’Connor and Sons Stonemasons Pty Ltd. In 1997 during a period of rapid growth Neil Skinner joined the company as director.

Under the management and leadership of Tim and Neil, O’Connor & Sons Stonemasons has made continuous improvement in upskilling staff and growing the business. We pride ourselves on being expert stonemasons, providing high quality craftsmanship and artisan skills. Our speciality includes carving, repointing, dry stone walling, cladding and traditional stonemasonry.

Over the years, we have built trusted relationships with many reputable builders, architects, engineers, stone suppliers, clients and subcontractors. We have been involved in a number of projects over the last 30 years. The most notable and lengthy in duration being sandstone restoration projects at The University of Melbourne Old Law Building (10 years) and Parliament House of Victoria. (16 years and counting).
